How can we help?
The Siolta Retreat Team are available to encourage young people to explore their relationship with God and consider how this relationship can be fostered and strengthened in today’s world.
Christian faith is examined and nurtured using a variety of methods including prayer, meditation, reflection, drama, music and movement.
You can request a specific focus for the retreat or allow our specialised team to create a programme which will give the young people a spiritual experience and an encounter with the living God.
The team draw on their own experiences as young Catholics today with particular emphasis on their charitable involvement in Africa and India through ‘Another Pair of Hands’ and their involvement in their local community through their parish and the GAA.
Talks,seminars and conferences.
Talks, seminars and conferences can be arranged for Parish/Parish Cluster Groups, schools and Community Youth Faith Groups. It is hoped that these might develop into Parish, Cluster or Community "Youth Mission" events. They can be of varying length and are pitched at the more mature young person and hence on most occasions larger groups can be catered for. To date these days have proved very popular in some schools where they have been trialled.
Themes can be selected from a variety of areas but are generally selected by those requesting our services. Examples of some recent ones delivered are, Myself, who am I? Friendship, Reconciliation, Relationships, Addiction and other topics from School PSHE Programme and other areas relevant to the lives of our young people. They have been designed as fun, informative, thought- provoking and enjoyable days for all involved. Music, Drama, Dance, Song and Video, ICT are just some of the methods built into these days to maximise their potential.
NB: SCHOOLS ARE ASKED NOT TO CONSIDER THIS AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE MORE TRADITIONAL SCHOOL RETREAT DAYS WHICH WITH THEIR MORE INTIMATE, SMALL GROUP SETTING ARE MORE APPROPRIATE FOR DEVELOPING THE SPIRITUAL, PRAYER AND REFLECTIVE NEEDS OF OUR SCHOOLS.
Youth Faith Awards.
Two new faith development awards for the Archdiocese of Armagh were launched on Monday 5th October 2009 in Silverbridge Resource Centre. Further information… Youth Programmes and Events. A number of programmes are available to parishes and school at present. A number of others are currently under development. These cover a wide and varied number of areas and are planned to meet the needs of today's young people. All programmes are run over a number of weeks, some short and others longer term.
